About Eczema

 

Eczema is also commonly referred to as atopic dermatitis. Atopic eczema is deemed to mainly affects children and toddlers, but it can continue into adulthood or come back later in an individuals life. The word “eczema” originally comes from the Greek word ekzein which means "to boil out".

Eczema is a chronic skin condition which forces the skin to become itchy, cracked and dry. Approximately 30-40% of all skin-related General Practitioner  visits in Europe and North America result in the diagnosis of atopic dermatitis. Eczema can affect males and females equally.

Some of the symptoms of Eczema are mentioned below:

  • The un-evenness and brokenness of skin in many places
  • Dry, itchy skin
  • At times, the skin can turn raw if scratches a lot.
  • The itching can, at times, worse at time.
  • Some areas of skin become red and inflamed.
  • Some inflamed areas in the skin ooze. 
  • Eczema might cause small and numerous bumps on the skin
